Alice in the Garden

“The flowers that Merriman had spoken of were private landmarks of his year. For as long as he could remember, he had slipped through the manor railings at the end of winter to stand in this one magical clearing and gaze at the gentle winter-banishing snowdrops, and later the golden daffodils of spring. He did not know who had planted the flowers; he had never seen anyone visiting them. He was not even sure anyone else knew they were there.” (Susan Cooper 1973: 53).

I can’t even tell you how important that book is. I hope you will not forget that I’ve got the whole rest of the series waiting for you when you’re done with that one.

Really like this photo, and now I’m off to investigate Susan Cooper.
